New Mallu teachers in America

How do you know that you are talking to a newly certified malayalee teacher in North America. One of the easiest ways to find out is to ask him about the education system in North America. Quite often you will get a passionate response as to how good the education system back home is and how fundamentally wrong the system is here. One of the key aspects you would find is how not being able to use “corporal punishment” is ruining the education system here. Most of the time they have solutions to problems that plague the north american education system and the panacea is with them. Another interesting aspect would be this is how we used to do things back home and how nice it was and how effective it was, but am I missing something there. The reality is these people do try real hard to make a difference in the first couple of years by adopting methods from back home, the stress that involves here is enormous and dropping out of the profession is an option or may even consider doing supply teaching. They are however a nice bunch of folks because they know what they are doing most of the time in terms of the content.
